Education Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
Professional Certification:
TUV Functional Safety Engineer or equivalent (strongly preferred).
Chartered/Professional Engineer registration (e.g., IChemE, Engineers Australia) – a plus.
Certification in HAZOP Leadership – desirable.
Experience:
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in process safety engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
Proven track record working on upstream and downstream O&G projects.
Experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects.

Technical Leadership in Process Safety:
Lead and execute process safety deliverables across FEED, detailed design, and operational risk studies.
Review and validate client PFDs, P&IDs, and process narratives from a safety perspective.
Safety Analysis & Risk Studies:
Facilitate and lead HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, QRA, and other risk assessments.
Develop and review Bow Tie analyses and risk matrices aligned with client/industry standards.
Regulatory & Standards Compliance:
Ensure deliverables are aligned with local (e.g., MIGAS, PETRONAS) and international (API, OSHA, CCPS) safety standards.
Interpret and apply standards such as IEC 61511, NFPA, API RP 754, ISO 31000.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare safety studies, risk assessment reports, and safety cases for submission to clients or regulators.
Provide recommendations and mitigation strategies that are technically sound and economically viable.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Interface with clients during design reviews, workshops, and regulatory engagements.
Translate complex technical findings into actionable items and presentations.
Project & Team Support:
Mentor junior safety and process engineers within the project team.
Support business development by contributing to proposals and technical clarifications.

Consequence modeling (PHAST, FRED, FLARESIM).
Risk assessment methodologies (QRA, FMEA, Fault Tree).
Safety Instrumented System design review (IEC 61511).
Fire & Explosion Risk Assessment (FERA), EERA, SIMOPS.
Software Proficiency:
PHA-Pro, PHAWorks, BowTieXP, DNV Phast, FLACS, or equivalent.
Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS) is beneficial.
